Review adidas Adizero Boston 12: Habemus carbon!

데이트 16/10/2023

It´s been 8 years working for Runnerinn and adidas. Enough time to consider myself, at the risk of seeming presumptuous, an authoritative voice to assess the acceptance of a shoe in the market and the current trends among runners.

cabecera

Some trends that, like everything, are variants. And although in my beginnings, back in 2016 and with “barefooting” on the rise, the fight of the big brands was to get the most minimalist and lightest shoes, today the world of “performance” running shoes is totally antagonistic: The more drop, the better. The more comfortable, the better. And a common denominator: Carbon. A lot of carbon. There is no race in the world where in the front row at the start you see someone wearing carbon-free shoes. From the San Silvestre of your town to the NY Marathon. Whoever wants to run fast, wears carbon.

And of course, adidas was not going to be left behind. Yes friends, you will finally find adidas with carbon on Runnerinn. Adizero Boston 12 is now a reality.

Adizero Family: The fastest

Adizero Boston 12 , as it could not be otherwise, is born from the Adizero matrix. The Adizero family is adidas´ range of performance sneakers par excellence. Within this range, Boston would be the most hybrid model: Although it is focused on training and is ideal for it, it can also be a perfectly useful option for competing.

Boston

The marathon city par excellence, where the oldest marathon in the world is held and with a huge sentimental component among all the runners in the world caused by the fateful attacks of 2013, gives its name to the most emblematic adidas model when we talk about performance. A model that is already in its 12th edition.

What has changed VS Adizero Boston 11?

Drop: Although we still have a 7mm drop , the Adizero Boston 12 modifies some points to gain lateral stability: The heel is a little wider and the front area is longer (similar to the Adios Pro).

LightStrike 2.0: The new improved version of the material that makes up the midsole. Combining with “LightStrike pro” in the metatarsal, they help comfort without compromising reactivity with each step.

Carbon: Energy Rods.

Between each layer of LightStrike we find the carbon rods “energy rods” inserted. It is the key to turning a good shoe into a “super shoe”, the rebound that carbon provides with each step.

Structure

It is a rather “wide” shoe, this makes it very stable and comfortable . Its weight (arox 267g for men and 227 for women) also helps a lot.

Continental sole

Why change what already works? Without a doubt the best sole in the world of running. Manufactured by the famous tire brand, it provides grip that makes them valid on wet terrain, dirt tracks and “complicated” urban sections.

For whom?

Very easy: For those who want to go VERY fast (never slower than 4´15´´/km) and like to train A LOT (40-50km per week with long runs of +20Km). For those who prioritize speed and performance over durability , cushioning or price. If, on the other hand, your priorities are one of the last three, your model would be ultraboost, adizero SL or solar boost.
