We delve into the new Hutchinson tires.

cabecera

This summer his Racing Lab has brought out the new Hutchinson Wyrm tires. The main idea of this model is to approach the advantages of a wide tire trying to perfect the drawbacks that it may have.

It is a 2.40 tire that allows us to carry a higher pressure thanks to its flexibility.

If we look closely, it presents some taller studs on the side and others that are shorter and separated in the tread area. With this, what you want to achieve is a stronger grip in tight corners and the necessary and sufficient grip on flat or uphill.

It is inspired by their best XC tires by introducing this low tread height and adding a higher profile to the outside. One of the innovations is the separation between the holes of the studs to achieve a greater detachment of the mud in wetter terrain. This also achieves greater braking and traction on looser terrain.

Its weight is 950g. It is a tire suitable for both the front and rear wheels. In my personal opinion, but, it´s better for the forward. If we put it on the front wheel it has a lot of traction but it may seem to us that there is a little braking left to roll.

Also noteworthy is its Hard Skin casing that provides us with more durability and more resistance to scratches or blows.

Quiz - Personal opinion:

It is a fairly all-terrain tire but in my opinion it is ideal for rainy and muddy days. Because of the area where I live, which is drier and more arid, I have left over a taco.

The good thing is that despite the high side block you can roll quite well on flatter tracks and terrain. And at the same time, it is ideal for trail riding and taking corners with confidence.

A handicap, in my personal opinion, is the weight. 950g is quite a lot, although being a 2.40 tire it is normal for it to be heavier than the other 2.35 ones.
